Common questions
Do I need the GARAN label?
Probably not. It applies only where the producer offers a durability guarantee that is free, covers the whole product, lasts more than two years, and was made known to you. Most shops resell goods whose producers offer no such guarantee, and for them the notice alone is the whole obligation. If you make your own products, you may choose to offer one.
Does the notice have to be on every product page?
No. The Commission's guidance describes it as a general reminder at shop level. A visible link that opens the full notice satisfies it, and it belongs in the order confirmation email as well.
Can I change how the notice looks?
No, and neither can we. The regulation says none of its elements may be edited. You can choose where it appears and how the link to it is styled; the notice itself is the Commission's file, unchanged.
What if my shop sells only to businesses?
The rules govern sales to consumers. There is a setting for this, which turns the notice off.
Does this make me compliant?
It handles the display obligation and keeps a record of what you declared. It is not legal advice, and it cannot judge whether a particular product qualifies for a durability guarantee. If you are unsure, ask a lawyer — the fines under these rules are not small.
